What is Chartlists? What are its most salient features?

Chartlists is a fast, curated chart discovery platform built to help you find high-quality “worth-your-time” chart candidates across major global markets — without drowning in noise. It combines clean price/volume charts, smart grouping, and practical ranking signals so you can scan, compare, and shortlist ideas in minutes.

  • Curated global universe (1,800 stocks): ~900 from the US & Canada, ~600 from China & Rest of World, and ~300 from India. The list of stocks is updated every week generally.
  • Selected global universe (600 stocks): A subset of ~600 selected stocks is shown separately for users seeking to browse a list of liquid or growth or trending stocks.
  • 150+ market indicators: Key indexes, sectors, styles, futures, rates, commodities, FX, and other “market mood” benchmarks — in one place.
  • Logical grouping (curated industry buckets): Stocks are organized into clean, trader-friendly categories (including curated industry groups), so you scan themes instead of random tickers.
  • Built-in sorting & filtering: Quickly slice lists by practical factors like liquidity, performance, and other scan-friendly traits — while keeping group structure intact.
  • Clean info panel (no clutter): Each chart includes a compact “just-the-right-amount” panel with key context, so you get signal without a Bloomberg-terminal headache.
  • New performance signals: Custom Perf Rating and ES Rating designed to summarize trend/strength in a simple, comparable way across names.
  • Charts + essentials in one view: Price action, moving averages/overlays, and key reference metrics are presented together so you can decide faster — without opening 10 tabs.

In short: Chartlists is built for speed, clarity, and quality — fewer tickers, better candidates, faster decisions.

What is the objective of this platform?

The goal is simple: help traders and investors scan hundreds of charts quickly and shortlist candidates for deeper review.

We intentionally avoid complexity (too many indicators, too many layouts, too many fundamentals). If you want deeper technicals/fundamentals, alerts, or execution, use platforms like TradingView, Finviz, TC2000 or Interactive Brokers.

How often is the site updated?

We try to update the site daily, but we don’t guarantee it.

Where does the price data come from?

EOD (end-of-day) data is collected from Yahoo Finance. We do not guarantee accuracy of the data. Please report any inaccurate information.

What is the Market Watchlist?

We show a curated set of 150 market indicators — ETFs, futures, and spot prices across major asset classes: equities, bonds, currencies, commodities, and cryptocurrencies.

What Stock Watchlists are included, and how many symbols?
  • USA + Canada: 900 selected stocks
  • ROW (ex-USA/Canada/India): 600 selected stocks
  • India: 300 selected stocks

All lists aim to focus on liquidity and “worth-your-time” chart candidates across market-cap segments.

How are stocks grouped?

Stocks are grouped into 50 logical sector/industry combinations for each market and have been validated to a large extent. While we understand there are close to 200 industry groups, we wanted groups to be not too small or too big, hence we use 50 as a practical number of groups. Please report if any stock is part of incorrect group.

Why are there multiple layouts?

Different layouts help you scan faster using combinations of interval, date range, and chart types.

Why we have asterik on some area charts?

Area charts like hourly charts have been smoothed with EMA3 (HLC3) to reduce noise.

Why you have so little information on technicals and fundamentals?

Just because it will make things more complicated than they need to be. This site is for quick screening of hundreds if not thousands of charts. We have kept noise out. Frankly, there are better tools for level 2 screening, if required.

I can not find a stock in your watchlists or I can not search for it?

We have applied rigor in screening stocks or market indicators that are provided in the watchlists. The screening includes liquidity, performance and earnings superiority. We intentionally dont want to show all the stocks available in the market- its done to remove the noise and still provide close to 1800 stocks every week for review from around the world. Watchlists will be reviewed every week and so you may see some new stocks on every week refresh.

Why India is provided as a separate market while other markets like China not?

India is an emerging market with significant growth seen for many years and yet the liquidity is low in most of the stocks. Applying the same liquidity criteria to Indian market as for US or ROW would have suppressed majority of Indian stocks.

What is the Performance Grade (PF) and how does it work?

Performance grading uses two components in this order

  • Relative Strength: weighted performance across 12m, 9m, 6m, 3m, and 1m periods
  • Relative Strength Change (last 1m): improvement/deterioration in relative strength recently

An AA PF stock is a strong performer over the last year and is also improving versus peers recently. An EE stock is a major underperformer versus peers in its market group.

What is SE rating and other fundamentals?

SE rating is based on two rating- sales rating is shown as the first letter while earnings earnings rating is shown as the second letter :

An AA rated stock has very strong sales/revenue and earnings performnce. An EE rated stock has very poor sales/revenue and earnings performnce.
